Explosive Speed, Agility & Quickness Training for ANY Sport

SAQ Camp Warm-up Wind Sprints
During the past three decades, the one athletic attribute which has most clearly transcended the majority of sports and most clearly impacted sports performance has been explosive power! — Namely speed, agility, quickness and jumping abilities, continue to be key athletic attributes that remain just beyond their reach. The ‘traditional’ view is that an athlete who does not possess great natural speed, agility and quickness can never become a great athlete. This is simply not true! With the right training, an athlete who was not ‘born quick’ and an athlete who is not gifted with tremendous jumping ability can certainly make significant improvements to their speed and jumping ability. In a similar way, an athlete who already possesses good athletic ability can likewise make significant improvements and reach that proverbial next level.

While it is true that our genetic makeup is largely responsible for our muscle fiber type and composition (a major contributor to explosive power), the latest sports science research conclusively proves that almost all athletes can make significant speed, agility, quickness and vertical leap improvements with the proper training!

Injury Prevention and Treatment Techniques

Major League Baseball Medicine Conference St. Louis, MO - January 3-5, 2008

It was January 2008, the coldest part of winter and Sports Performance Trainer Ryan Lotito from Road Warrior Sports was standing behind home plate in the New Busch Stadium, home of the St. Louis Cardinals attending a conference on treatment for sports injuries, throwing programs and proper nutrition. He received a certificate from the Professional Baseball Athlete Trainers Society.

Mr. Lotito took part in the training which focused on Injury Prevention and treatment of injuries common in baseball & other sports. The conference was led by the Head Team Physician Dr. George A. Palletta Jr., Dr. James Andrews (re-known Tommy John specialist) & other top Orthopedic surgeons whom practice Sports Medicine.

Mr Lotito also received personal instruction in pitching mechanics from Cardinal Pitcher Brad Thompson (pictured on the right in the Cardinals underground complex). Thompson, who has come back from an injury, related how he wished he had spent more time conditioning and working with a sports performance trainer when he was younger. He explained his workout regimen and specifically his injury prevention exercises he now performs regularly in order to extend the life of his pitching arm. He recommended any athlete who has pain should find a sports performance trainer and or physical therapist he or she trusts and stick with them long term to fully resolve any symptoms.

Prevent Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) Injuries

What is an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury?

An anterior cruciate ligament, or ACL, injury is a tear in one of the knee ligaments that joins the upper leg bone with the lower leg bone.

The ACL keeps the knee stable. Injuries range from mild, such as a small tear, to severe, such as when the ligament tears completely or when the ligament and part of the bone separate from the rest of the bone.

What causes an ACL injury?

Your ACL can be injured if your knee joint is bent backward, twisted, or bent side to side. The chance of injury is higher if more than one of these movements occurs at the same time. Contact (being hit by another person or object) also can cause an ACL injury. An ACL injury often occurs during sports. The injury can happen when your foot is firmly planted on the ground and a sudden force hits your knee while your leg is straight or slightly bent. This can happen when you are changing direction rapidly, slowing down when running, or landing from a jump.

This type of injury is common in soccer, tennis, basketball, football, volleyball, martial arts and other sports with lots of stop-and-go movements, jumping, or weaving.

How can you prevent ACL injuries?

The best way to prevent ACL injuries is to stretch and strengthen the leg muscles, especially the front and back muscles of the thigh (quadriceps and hamstrings).

Road Warrior Sports Training has developed an ACL prevention training program that emphasizes all the components necessary to keep you in the game you love longer and stronger. 11:21 am edt

Road Warrior Sports Training has developed an overall conditioning program that emphasizes core strength in the back, torso and shoulder. Keeping you in the game you love longer and stronger.

Prevent Golf Injuries with RWST Golf Specific Fitness

Many golf injuries occur due to lack of fitness and flexibility which contribute to the most common golf injuries and pain. These injuries typically occur in the soft tissues (muscles, ligaments, tendons) and joints of the upper body, back, elbow, wrist and shoulder. In general, professional golfers have more overuse injuries due to hours of practice while amateurs are more likely to get injured from lack of conditioning, poor swing mechanics and improper club grip.

What Causes Golf Injuries?

Skipping the warm-up Overuse, mis-hits or duffs hitting the ground during the swing and twisting the Spine during the Swing. Shoulder injuries in golfers are generally due to repetitive overuse syndromes of the rotator cuff muscles.

Prevention of Golf injuries depends upon:

Proper conditioning, strengthening the rotator cuff and scapular muscles, Strengthen the chest (pectorals major) and back (latissimus dorsi) muscles these generate the power in the swing. You can also help prevent hand, wrist and elbow pain and injuries by strengthening the forearm muscles.
